2020年の大晦日、果たして第九は中継されるのだろうか？

『ベートーヴェンの生涯』という著作もあるロマン・ロランの大河小説

『ジャン・クリストフ』を再々々読した（12月16日）。

『永遠の故郷 夕映』（吉田秀和）（右）によると

ベートーヴェンの「遥かなる恋人へ寄す」全6曲は

「憧れのモチーフ」に貫かれているのだとか ♡

この朴訥で、恥じらいに満ちた、優しい旋律が

のちの第九のメロディにつながるとは！

吉田秀和『永遠の故郷』（右）では、しばしば本文に手書きの楽譜が挿入される。

ひょっとすると、『ジャン・クリストフ』（中・左）から着想を得たのだろうか？

In Japan, Beethoven's Ninth is played on December 31th.

Its dynamic and simple melody "EEFG-GFED-CCDE-EDD"

is based on the motif in An die Ferne Geliebte op.98,

which is timid, gentle and genuine.

シンプルな旋律を無限に発展させる職人肌の作曲家。

あるいは、人間への深い思いがあふれるような芸術家。

（ジョンがベートーヴェンにたとえられるなら、ポールはシューベルト？）

耳を病み、音の世界から少しずつ遠ざかるにつれ

魂の耳で神の音をとらえるようになっていった。

晩年のピアノ・ソナタを弾くと、

高音部と低音部に右手と左手が引き裂かれ、

楽聖のイメージしていたであろう響きが再現し切れないもどかしさを感じるのは

私だけだろうか。
